BangShift.com has been invited to a 2009 SEMA unveiling where GM Performance Parts is showing a crate engine that they claim will make a huge impact on the entire hot rod industry for years to come. GMPP has also released a video showing a bit of the project car that will also be on display as well as a sneak that makes this look like an LSX engine.

The gossip says the engine will be an emissions-legal swap-in for any car, but the car being built in the vid is a Tri-Five Chevy, and that does not seem to be the best car to advertise a smog legal engine, so maybe the buzz is wrong. We’ll find out for sure and tell you as soon as the unveiling happens.
