Greg Biffle, NASCAR Legend and Humanitarian, Dies at 55 Along With His Wife, Two Kids, Friends, and Pilot in Plane Crash.

When we got word yesterday that Greg Biffle’s plane had crashed at his home airport, our hearts sank. We immediately asked whether or not other friends of ours, like one of Biffle’s good friends Garrett Mitchell, aka Cleetus McFarland, were on board. And while we were glad to hear that he wasn’t, we were heartbroken to hear that Greg Biffle, his wife, and two kids were among those killed in the crash. In total, 8 people died in the crash and our hearts go out to everyone’s friends and family.

Reports that came out early were unclear as to who exactly was on the plane, but it became obvious pretty quickly that Greg and his family were in fact on the plane.

We are so sorry for their loss and know that nothing we say will change the fact that they have lost loved ones. We only hope that the good deeds that Greg and Cristina have done, the smiles that their children have put on faces, and the entertainment Biffle’s racing career has provided, will provide some measure of comfort and solace to family and friends. Our sincerest condolences to the Grossu, Dutton, and Lunders families as well. I cannot imagine the grief that Nicole Lunders, mother of her and Greg’s daughter Emma who died on board, is feeling as well. We are so sorry.

Here is a statement from the families of all the victims.

Video Description:

NASCAR mourns the loss of Greg Biffle, the 2000 Craftsman Truck Series and 2002 Xfinity Series champion, and one of the NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers.

In his 15-year Cup Series career, Biffle recorded numerous accolades and wins across his 515 starts. In 2024, he was added to the list of nominees for induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Biffle’s post-career humanitarian efforts included a leadership role in bringing relief to Western North Carolina, running helicopter rescue routes into ravaged and remote mountain communities following Hurricane Helene.
