It’s easy for someone to mentally build up the powertrain of their dreams: the block, the internals, the heads, fuel delivery, transmission…all of that comes to mind rather quickly. What doesn’t come as quickly is the flywheel. Hays is a name you might know from their work with clutches, but they do flywheels too, and they now are announcing applications for their steel and aluminum flywheels. If you’re putting together a powertrain for your project, be sure to give the guys at Hays a look-over…they know what they are doing, as they’ve been doing it since 1958 and have been working with some of the heaviest hitters in the industry. Here’s what they have to say about their new pieces:
Hays is pleased to announce the expansion of its already expansive line of tried-and-true steel flywheels, which now supports 1969-78 Big Block Fords, 1986-92 Small Block Chevys, and late-model Big Block Chevys with steel cranks.
CNC-machined from 1045 billet steel that withstands the high-RPM demands of competition use, these all-new flywheels are ideal for today’s high-horsepower street, off-road, and race engines. Each one is CAD-designed for maximum performance and durability, SFI-certified to meet spec 1.1, and available for internal, external, and zero (neutral) balanced applications.
CNC machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, Hays aluminum flywheels are a great way to shave some weight off the drivetrain of your vehicle. Hays aluminum flywheels feature heat treated steel ring gears and a replaceable 1045 steel friction surface that is attached with high-grade fasteners.
