Hey Hot Shoe! You Can Race At Sears Point Raceway In Your Own Car, And Support Charity!

(Darr Hawthorne/Sonoma Raceway)

Do you think you’ve got the driving chops to compete on the same track where likes of Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Briscoe, Tony Kanaan or any of the Andretti’s show how it’s done?

If you have aspirations to become a NASCAR Road Race Ringer or have always wanted to challenge a killer road course with your own car, here’s the opportunity you’ve been waiting for – and it benefits an important charity!

Sign up and drive your car on-track at world famous Sonoma Raceway in a new event to benefit Speedway Children’s Charities.

You can join the likes of legendary and even famous drivers who have tried to tame the track just thirty minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge near San Francisco.

If you’ve ever dreamt of taking a few laps around the Sonoma Raceway road course, you can now turn those fantasies into reality, as the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) hosts its first-ever “Laps for Charity” event on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.  For the first time ever, race fans and community members can enjoy a few laps around the challenging track, all in the name of charity in the ultimate ego challenge.

This unique experience includes pre-lap instruction with professional racing instructors, three lead-follow laps around the 12-turn, 2.52-mile circuit and a picture of your car on the track. With more than 160 feet of elevation change from its highest to lowest points, Sonoma Raceway was built on what was a working farm in the early 1900’s called Sears Point and will test the ability of any driver.  The cost of this incredible adventure is just $100 – all proceeds benefit kids in need through Sonoma County youth organizations.

Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway, has distributed more than $4.5 million to Sonoma County youth groups since 2001.

A limited number of spots, in half-hour increments are now available between 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. Participants must be 18 years old or older, and passengers will not be permitted. All cars must have mufflers and pass a basic technical inspection.
