Would You Like A Tiny Trar? Then This 4×4 Chevette Is For You!

Would You Like A Tiny Trar? Then This 4×4 Chevette Is For You!

Nowadays anyone can go out and purchase a small four-wheel-drive vehicle, but in the early 1980s the options were pretty limited. You could buy a pickup truck, or an SUV based upon one. You had small imported trucks, like the Mazda-based Ford Courier and Isuzu-based Chevrolet LUV, and it would be a couple of years before the Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15 would arrive. Or, you could go to your AMC dealership and get an Eagle that had four-wheel drive. The Eagle SX/4 model was even a two-door hatchback that looked kind of sporty. But what if the Eagle was just too big for you? Well, parked in the rays of the setting sun, is your answer.

GM did not make a T-car with four-wheel drive, but somebody in Kansas sure did. The 1982 Chevrolet Chevette is perched upon the running gear and frame of a Nissan truck. The ad, like the car, is strictly business and no fluff: “Asking $1,650. Decent Condition. Roll Cage. 2 Seats. 2 Door.” Nobody is forcing you to purchase this rolling beauty, cowboy. But it’s there, in the prairie sun, waiting for the right owner to come along. Don’t mind the red hatch on the otherwise black body. That’s character.
