NASCAR Announces Multi Year Cup Series Deal With Monster Energy Drinks As Entitlement Sponsor

NASCAR Announces Multi Year Cup Series Deal With Monster Energy Drinks As Entitlement Sponsor

Entitlement Sponsor? What the hell does that mean? It means that for only the third time in the history of the Cup Series there is a new naming rights sponsor. Instead of calling it the Winston Cup, or the Sprint Cup (which still sounds funny to me), it will now be called Monster Cup or some such thing. If it is Monster Cup then it will sound like the next animated movie version of NASCAR which is too bad because I’m a Monster Energy fan. Here is some video about the announcement and more below from the fine folks at NASCAR.com.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — NASCAR and Monster Energy announced today a multi-year agreement for the premier series entitlement as well as the prestigious annual NASCAR All-Star Race. Monster Energy, which will begin its tenure as naming rights partner on Jan. 1, 2017, will become only the third company to serve as the entitlement sponsor in NASCAR premier series history, following RJ Reynolds and Sprint/Nextel.

As part of the agreement, the brand also becomes the Official Energy Drink of NASCAR.

“Monster Energy is a brand built on excitement and enthusiasm, qualities that align with NASCAR,” said Brian France, NASCAR Chairman and CEO. “This sponsorship position is the most unique in all of sports and entertainment, and we are thrilled to have a partner that will help us further elevate the series. Today’s announcement is the culmination of a thorough search, one that resulted in the right partner at this important time in our sport’s history.”

NASCAR premier series races long have been a bucket-list destination for sports fans throughout the country, and starting next season, Monster Energy will elevate the event experience to an even higher level. As part of the agreement, Monster Energy will engage with fans in creative, innovative ways at all race tracks where the premier series will race.

Monster Energy has an established and versatile history in motorsports, and we’re thrilled to take this historic next step,” said Rodney Sacks, Monster Beverage Chairman and CEO. “We feel strongly that our brand is a perfect fit for this sport and its star athletes. We look forward to interacting with the millions of passionate NASCAR fans week-in, week out.”

Can’t wait to see all the healthy conscious drivers take a swig for this rats piss in Victory Lane. And why is France looking more and more like the leader of north Korea?

That still picture is very telling. If you have ever been around someone who drinks the spirits to excess, that very swelled face kind of puffy look is common.

Along with Monster they should engage a blow up doll manufacturer to make “fans” to fill the seats. Even the last race at Homestead for the ” Chumpionship” could not fill the bleachers. NASCAR… Do we really care?

Whether you like Monster, or not, this is an intelligent move by NASCAR. It will bring a younger democratic, to the events. Anything that Monster touchs, in the last several years, has turned to gold and platinum. Just a decade ago, people were saying that, the AMA SuperCross series was, all but dead. In came Monster…and to say it’s healthy, is being polite.

Just ask the NHRA, what a small swig of Monster can do for you…Monster sponsors Brittany Force…they had a major uptick in notice by, millennial’s.

So you think the younger people will come to Asscar because of this drink? You’ve been drinking too much of Monster .

Never liked Monster. If I drink a tradional tasting energy drink, I prefer Red Bull.

Third hand report….I guess at the press conference, monster addressed the team sponsorships across its racing platform and said all are still in place. Named a number of teams, expect Brittany. Hopefully an oversight, but still would be a slap in the face to NHRA.

Not a NASCAR fan, but NHRA would kill for the number of fans that show up for a poorly attended nascar race.
