AutoMeter is always coming up with new and exciting was to display data, but their new Chrono line of gauges is just plain bad ass, especially when you find out how they came to be. When one of the team leaders took his affinity for watches, along with the timelessly classic looks of European gauges, and combined them into what you see here, a new style was born. He actually talked with the gauge face manufacturing team before finalizing the look, by showing them the watch on his wrist and asking if they could make a face that looked like that. Their reply was “design it, and we’ll figure it out…”
It is hard to fully appreciate the 3D and backlit nature of these gauges in photos, but we can tell you that checking them out in the booth at SEMA 2017 had us drooling. But making gauges like this is not without its challenges.
The severely dished gauge face, squared off bezel, and full sweep pointer travel, make it a different kind of gauge than you are used to. But the manufacturing guys figured out how to make it happen. And, they figured out how to make the backlight work. The lighting on these gauges doesn’t just come from the front, it is actually glowing through the back of the gauge face which helps to define the depth. We think these gauges fit a wide variety of vehicle eras and styles and that they will adapt well to many projects. We’ll be using them as one of our mockup styles in an upcoming project, and can’t wait to see what they look like.

These suddenly went to the top of the want gauges pile. Needing a new speedo, tach and temp gauge this new design is killer.
