News Exclusive: Disabled drivers to run 200 mph at Bonneville?

This is seriously amazing news, and a BangShift.com exclusive. We were informed today by Mike Cook, son of Doug “Cookie” Cook, SCTA Past President, Bonneville World Record holder, race car builder and all around bitchin guy, that he has reached an agreement with the Bureau of Land Management to run a private meet, at Bonneville, featuring a blind driver and a quadriplegic driver. Cook’s goal is to have both drivers run 200 mph across the salt.

We know it sounds crazy, and this is going to spur plenty of discussion, both good and bad. We know this, but we are still excited. BangShift will bring you more news next week with regards to possible drivers, cars, and more specifics. We have pledged our support, and will continue to work with Mike towards his goal. We can’t imagine how it would feel to run that fast across the salt without being able to see, but we want to be there to find out.
