Rough Start: If You Can Find A Cleaner AMC Concord For $2500, Buy It

Normally I avoid Craigslist ads with one badly cropped photo like the plague, but in this case I will make an exception. What we have here is a 1979 AMC Concord coupe, and on the surface it appears to be a clean little piece in a nice blue/blue color package. The AMC road wheels are a great touch and rejoice, the aluminum railroad ties at the ends of the car appear to have been trashed.

1978 AMX

The Concord replaced the Hornet and the Matador in AMC’s lineup and spawned the Eagle wagon that carried the brand to the end. It was still based upon the same architecture of the Hornet, so all tricks apply, and the 1978 AMX was based on the Concord coupe instead of either the Hornet or the Spirit hatchback. But in a rare break from the norm, just imagine this clean, unadorned coupe in this color with a healthy 304 pushing it around.

For sale or trade ,258 6 cyl. air, 75k runs and drives, rally wheels ,front disc brakes , power steering , air conditioning ,roll up windows, Michelin tires, bumpers shaved 2″, needs carpet, 20 footer paint job , have original window sticker from twin city motors in little rock and I think the owners manual as well. decent shape for a 36 year old vehicle. comes with a 304 engine with rings ,rods , mains, timing, and oil pump ,no carb on 304.

For $2500, we’d jump on this deal. If the 304 is ready to rock, the engine would be swapped and we’d hunt for an engineless Spirit to shove the six into. After that, don’t change a thing…you don’t see AMCs much cleaner than this that often.
