Working to the point where you can retire is the ultimate goal, isn’t it? You’ve squirreled away your hard-earned money, put in your dues and now you’ve got plenty of time to sit back, relax and do what, exactly…watch television and mow the lawn once a week? Screw that noise. Work doesn’t stop just because you have retired…if anything, there’s a garage, there’s tools, and now you no longer have the excuse of not having time to spin wrenches. If anything, retirement should be the gift of being able to work on what you want to work on, whenever you damn well please! For BangShift Forum member “cstmwgn”, that time is now and that project is a 1966 Ford F-250 that’s been around the block forever.
The goal on this Ford is kind of fluid. As he says himself, “I am going to need a truck to do all the things you do with a truck while still being able to spank those silly kids in their late model hot rods!” Given the current crop of hot rods, that’s a bit of a tall order, and as early on in the project as he is, all we can say for the moment is that you can expect a big-block Ford to be involved in some manner under the hood. Details are being worked out but for now, the part of the process that involves stripping everything down and cleaning up is underway. We know for sure that the wiring is going to be replaced with a kit from Painless Performance, and we suspect that a Gear Vendors unit will find it’s way onto the tailshaft of the C6 automatic. After that…who knows? It’s his truck and he’s got plenty of time to sort out the build!
