Steve Magnante Truck Week Junkyard Finds Continue. Truck Week Feature #24 – The Ford Courier That Proved Who Was Smart

Here’s the twenty fourth video of Steve’s Truck series! This time it’s all about the cute little Ford Courier, a rebadged Mazda B-Series that proved there were some smart people handling imports for Ford and Mazda. Magnante found a cool one and is going to explain why this little truck is so smart. Watch and if you missed the previous videos use the link below.

Our friend Steve Magnante has been out of commission for a few months as he’s literally been fighting for his life from a bad brain infection, but he’s back! You may know Steve from all his years in the magazine world where he wrote for a ton of great magazines like Hot Rod and Car Craft, but in recent years he’s been the rain man of muscle car and classics knowledge on Barrett-Jackson’s TV auction shows. He’s also been making great YouTube content of his own, walking through junkyards full of great finds and sharing all the info on cool old rides.

Thankfully, he had great doctors who didn’t give up on him even after putting him, and I’m so thrilled to say that he is in fact on the mend and working at getting back to his normal self.

I first met Steve more than 20 years ago on Hot Rod Power Tour and was lucky enough to work with him a few times over the years. He’s a real treasure, one hell of a guy, and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to be sharing these videos with you now.

Video Description:

For over a decade before Ford launched its compact 1982-1/2 Ranger pickup truck, Mazda kept Ford active in the sales battle against Toyota and Datsun with the “captive import” Courier – which was based on Mazda’s B-Series pickup. But why were these little trucks imported without the cargo bed bolted down? It’s all about the “chicken tax”. The what? Watch and learn.
