Racing Junk Find: Billy The Kid Stepp’s Plymouth Arrow Hemi Pro Stocker

Racing Junk Find: Billy The Kid Stepp’s Plymouth Arrow Hemi Pro Stocker

Billy “The Kid” Stepp was an infamous player during the Pro Stock battles of the 1970’s, and although he passed away almost three years ago, his reputation most certainly survives. Known for being a man with a whole lot of attitude, and some questionable business dealings, he was also known for running well and playing with the big boys. In the mid-70s Ronnie Sox and Bobby Yowell both drove for Stepps, and both won in this very Plymouth Arrow Pro Stocker. According to the RacingJunk ad, this Don Hardy car is mostly untouched from its days of IHRA, NHRA, and match race Pro Stock action. It has been ran for the last 20 years by the current owner and still runs low 8 second laps just like it did during its hayday.

We would take the no engine and trans option if we were buying this bad boy in favor of a killer Mid-70s combo, but would leave everything else we possibly could. Hell, this thing still has the original Magnesium Dana rear in it and sits like a million bucks. Overall this car gives us lumber and we aren’t afraid to admit it. We’d hang the original Billy The Kid doors in the garage and race it with our own 70s era paint scheme.
