Ridetech President in Stable Condition after fall

Ridetech President in Stable Condition after fall

BangShift.com sponsor and friend Bret Voelkel, President of Ridetech, was hospitalized Jan 20th, 2010 after suffering a head injury due to a fall. Voelkel was seen running from the Ridetech headquarters building, clearly agitated, screaming, and was later found unconscious  next to his Tahoe. Voelkel is reported to be in stable condition and is expected to return home pending psychiatric evaluation. When BangShift.com contacted Ridetech for a comment, we were directed to Tony Bicknell who informed us that at approximately 11 am Eastern Time, Bret was seen walking through the fabrication shop at which point he began screaming something about knowing they were after him, and that his own people were conspiring to help them.

Tony indicated that “them” referred to the suspension industry who claimed “Air Ride” would never be a true performance suspension, and who Bret had proven wrong on multiple occasions. The trigger for Bret was coil-over shocks featuring a Ridetech Logo. Apparently Bret was the last to know that Ridetech is no longer just an Air Suspension company. Tony was nice enough to send us photos and information on the offending parts. Here are the details.

Ridetech’s new CoilRide Coil-Over shocks are made in Indiana and feature an impact forged aluminum body. They are gas pressure monotube construction, available in both fixed and single adjustable models, and feature a fine thread split clamp adjuster for easy ride height adjustment. Coil mounting hardware is all billet aluminum and the shocks feature 1/2″ bore Kevlar lined spherical bearings at each end standard. They are available to fit a variety of applications, and with a variety of coil springs. They are so new they aren’t even on Ridetech.com, but more information will be available soon. In the meantime, BangShift.com’s best wishes go out to Bret and the rest of the Ridetech family in this time of need.
