Here you go: Ford has unveiled Special Service Vehicle variations of the F-150 and Expedition. Police can choose from the 3.5L turbo V6 or the 5.0L V8, and both are backed up by the 10-speed automatic.
2. Whatever happened to “Yield to Tonnage”?
The Governors Highway Safety Association has announced that the death toll for vehicle vs. pedestrian accidents is dangerously close to 6,000 per year. Reasons given: alcohol use, distractions, and the proliferation of pickup trucks and SUVs as the common vehicle.
3. “Bring back the 505!”, cried no one, ever.
Groupe PSA, the parent company of Peugeot, Citroen, DS and recently, Opel, will be making inroads back into the United States market, which they last saw in 1991. The company will enter the market first as a ride-sharing service. Over time, PSA vehicles will enter that market, and if the program is a success, then PSA will start to look at sales.
4. Charity done right!This is the first retail Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with the 1LE package. It’s a menacing looking thing, the kind of car that we’d love to rip around Spring Mountain with. And it sold at Barrett-Jackson for $250,000, but for a good reason: charity. That money benefits the United Way, while the ZL1 1LE benefits some rich person with a heavy right foot and the proper cardiac medications.
5. Random vehicle introduction: The 2018 Buick Regals
This week, you will be hearing a lot about new cars…the New York International Auto Show is upon us, and already there are signs of life. Buick’s shot is the new Regal…it comes in a five-door Sportback model and a TourX wagon variation. Of note, there was a slip-up that involved eyebrow-raising quips, like “3.6L V6” and “Twin-Clutch AWD”. Please, please let it be the LGX from the Camaro…
