Shop Tour: We hang out at Diversified Creations

Shop Tour: We hang out at Diversified Creations

While covering the fabled Detroit Autorama a few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to get some time with several friends in the Detroit area. And as you would expect from us, these guys are all hard core hot rodders, and have cool stuff to check out. Once such guy is Mike Copeland, otherwise known as LS1 ZR2 on our forums, who is not only a major driving force behind GM Performance Division and GM Performance Parts projects, but also the co-owner of Diversified Creations in Brighton, Michigan.

Mike’s day job consists of planning, building and managing concept car, show car, race car, and fun car fabrication for General Motors. He spends his spare time working on his own cars, helping customers, and participating in events like Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week. His other passion is going really fast, uphill, on sand. And he does it in really fun sick ways. You see, nothing scares Mike. Everything is a challenge, and everything excites him. And his laugh is infectious. He’s the real deal.

Mike was kind enough to let us roam around his shop, Diversified Creations, so that we could check out his latest toys and parts. On the shop floor, we found his wheelstanding, LS powered, GMC Canyon from Drag Week and the LSX Shootout. It runs easy 10s, is totally streetable, and is going to go faster now. We dig it. His wife is just as sick as evidence by the 630 hp LSA powered Jeep Rubicon they were just finishing up for her fun at the sand dunes. A customer’s S10 was in line for one of Diversified’s solid axle swaps, and a soon to be featured in Hot Rod 2nd Gen Camaro had just left for paint. This place was hopping.

Diversified is one of those shops that, with rare exception, doesn’t exist anymore. You see, they have knowledgeable staff, great prices, and parts on the shelf. In addition, they have a fully staffed and equipped fabrication and installation shop that can put together anything you need. And given the Copeland gang’s love of everything big and powerful, it’s no surprise that they can handle anything that comes their way. Drag cars, street cars, trucks, and more come through Diversified every day, and customer service is always the top priority. So if you are in the market for parts, check them out online and call for pricing. If you are anywhere near Brighton, stop by and check them out as well. Oh, and don’t forget to tell them BangShift.com sent you.

Mike also helped us get into the GM Heritage Center while we were in Detroit, and you can check out those photos here.
