In this episode of Make It Kustom you get an up close look at a Karl Fisher’s home-built English wheel, along with an explanation on what the English wheel does and how. It’s a pretty simple piece of machinery actually, but when someone is really good at using it, it can seem like magic. True metal shapers, the guys with tons of experience and feel for what the metal is doing, are incredible to watch and learn from. But the way that all of them got good is by spending the time practicing and making metal curve. You’ll never get good at anything that has to do with metal shaping or fabrication unless you do it. A lot. Even when you don’t want to. People talk about welding all the time, and about how it is that really good welders can be that good. Well if you do it every single day, and you keep practicing when you AREN’T very good at it, eventually you will be. The same goes for working sheet metal with shaping tools like the English Wheel. Check out the video below to learn more. And then be inspired so you can go out there and make something on your own!
