Fabrication projects range from the simple to the most complicated on your average hot rod, muscle car, or custom build, and sometimes the more complicated ones get the best of us before we can even begin. Those intimidating projects can sometimes be so overwhelming that they don’t even get started. But some of them don’t need to be that intimidating, and in fact some that people are scared of shouldn’t be so troubling as to keep you from making them happen. Sheetmetal projects seem to be the kind of thing that is intimidating to a lot of people because they feel like they don’t have the right tools or experience, but sometimes they are not nearly as complicated as you might think.
In this latest video from Fitzee, he goes over the process of building a complete fan shroud for two electric fans. In typical Fitzee fashion there are lots of tips and tricks and ways to do everything you need with simple tools and a simple process. He does use a sheet metal brake, but it is a small cheap brake that you can get for around $250 brand new, or half that used. Of course you could build your own benchtop brake for $50 or less. The rest is about the process and the measurements and making it all happen. Watch, learn, and be inspired.
