We know this video has been around for a while, and we know that we’re partial to it since it is one of our own, but given Larry Larson’s Hot Rod Drag Week win last month we figured it was worth replaying and have chosen it as this weeks Parting Shift video. This video show Larry Larson’s car at Las Vegas where it first ran 6 seconds, and is from it’s quickest and fastest pass ever. 6.93 at 211.59 mph. You get every angle on this night run.
As big fans of clutch cars, we know that there are some people who won’t agree with using a Lenco car as a Parting Shift, but the truth is they are super bad assed and we love them. Sure rowing gears with a more traditional 4-speed takes killer skill, and we love banging gears with one. But anybody that says they wouldn’t own a Lenco car if given the chance is fooling themselves.
It just doesn’t feel right that he has to brake at the end.. I fully expect him to pull back on the steering wheel and take off.
Awesome!
Only thing better would be a little top gearish spoof where he’s texting with one hand, while steering the wheel with his kneecap, and using the other hand to pull levers.
Can someone explain to me the pops of flames from under the rear bumper during the staging shot at around the 1:48 second mark? I can see the header flames at the front of the car but 2 quick shots of flame come out from under the rear bumper. Is it from the turbo wastegates bleedin off excess boost?
The flames out the back are an extension of the exhaust system, he likely has header cut-outs for the track, but at WOT and on the limiter, some exhaust (flame) still makes it through the entire exhaust.
I am forever addicted to this car. Great job Larry!!
Flames at the back are from the exhaust system, under the car are from the wastegates
