A Flippin’ Good Time: Ramping Beaters In Britain For Charity (And Carnage!)

There are limitless ways to send that old beater that nobody wants on to the great parking lot in the sky without just sending the car over the scales and collecting your cash. There’s demolition derby, crapcan racing, offering up the car as fodder for a monster truck, sure. You can even go desert-bombing in one until the suspension just falls out completely. But there is nothing quite like the rollover ramp. Hit at speed, send the car tumbling, and hope that your rollcage builder was on his game the day he got around to putting your heap together, that’s the way to do it!

You have to be a certain kind of insane to willingly strap yourself into a car with the goal of putting it on it’s lid or better. Just hitting someone, like a bump-pass race or a demo derby, that’s one thing. But getting into a small car and aiming the wheel at the teeny-tiny ramp that’s designed to make you roll and flip like you are in a H.B. Halicki car chase scene is something else altogether. Your marbles are all over the floor, your deck of cards is scattered…put your own analogy in place here.

And if you willfully get into a Reliant Robin (you know, that three-wheeled death trap that TopGear made famous) and hit the ramp, you need to have your head examined by a team of professionals. Trust us, one such individual is in this video!
