The sound of cammed-out V8 race cars idling by on their way to the track to shriek out a noise barely rivaled by any rock concert in existence…is there a better way to start the day? Not in our eyes…especially when the cars rolling on by are part of one of the many feature races at Bathurst. The mix is the best of Australia and America: split-bumper Camaros and Falcon GT-HOs, Valiant Chargers and Mustangs, Monaro and Commodore against Challenger and AMX. It’s Trans-Am meets the Australian Touring Car Championship, and it is like seeing the inside of Willy Wonka’s factory for the first time as a kid: everything is amazing, wonderful, everything you hoped it would be. We relish in the sounds of these monsters battling it out at Mount Panorama, but hearing them warming up and moving around as they get ready somehow evokes more menace. Maybe it’s just us. such a tasty lineup…good to see some choice Aussie muscle in amongst the US stuff
And they got shafted by $upercars. Come Friday morning, fog on the track.
Can’t help the weather. But to shaft the fans and drivers by cancelling the TCM qualifying/practice, and yet keep the hairdresser’s cars (Toyota 86) qualifying? Guess which class we wanted to see? Yet, the muppets that run $upercars can fit pointless delays & puff pieces in,but **** us over.
Mixture of Aussie TCM and New Zealand NZV8 cars, all of them awesome.
Good to see the boat anchor Fords fall by the wayside.
