Aussie Budget Builds: Mighty Car Mods Pits Their Mitsubishi Lancer Against Their Re-Purchased Nissan 180SX

We can dig budget builds around here. Sometimes, you just have to play with the hand you are dealt and make the most out of what you’ve got. For Mighty Car Mods, that’s what this battle is all about: two different budget cars that are simply here to have fun with. On one side is the “2SEXY” Mitsubishi Lancer two-door…now a stripped-down handler, this Lancer used to be a Fast and Furious cartoon character, complete with red interior, useless gauges, and fart can exhaust. Now, it’s at least powerful enough to get rubber in second gear. On the other hand is a car that only recently returned to the MCM garage: a Nissan 180SX that is the final product of years of being treated like a drift toy, complete with crappy bodywork that’s flopping around, strange wheels, shot tires and more questionable issues that lie under the surface. With free reign at Sydney Motorsports Park’s figure-eight course, they put these beaters through their paces and then announce that they aren’t done with them yet. Cars that should’ve hit the junkyard, given a bit of love before a righteous beating…you’d almost swear that they are building up for something bigger down the road, wouldn’t you?

I wondered if, since toilets flush backwards in Australia, FWD cars would hoon better then RWD cars. (spoiler alert). Nope, even in the land down under, RWD rules. That 180 is craptastic.
