Events like the Gambler 500 series of events and the LeMons Rallies have encouraged people to just get their beaters up and running well enough to drive and enjoy, and then encourages the owners to go out and have an adventure with their machines of questionable repute. We are totally on-board with that philosophy…after years of being told that the paint must be perfect and the shiny bits must be perfectly shiny, there is a welcome relief in just piling into a mechanically alright machine to head out into the world at large. For some, that’s their daily commute; for others, it might qualify as “slumming it” for some fun, but whatever the case, it’s all about the laughs and adventures in the end. We’ve had several of our friends check out these events first-hand and the stories they tell…good times had by all.
This 2004 Crown Victoria was originally built for the Gambler 500 and as you can see, it’s a lifted monster of a machine. A former cop car that was sold for cheap money, it’s now the range car for Fire Mountain Outdoors. A 5″-8″ Universal Car Lifts lift kit was purchased and worked to fit under the P71, 4.10s were stuffed into the rear axle, wheels were yanked from a Jeep JK and were fitted with 1″ spacers and the roof rack system is a combination of a Go-Rhino rack basket and the roof rails from a Ford Windstar. It’s a throw-together vehicle, but watching the guys whomp on the car in the Washington State woods tells us that we’d like everything about this big beast!
