Fire, rooster tails of flung dirt, auditory violence and speed. Dirt drag racing is a special kind of lunacy, isn’t it? We can applaud anybody who is willing to climb into the seat of a rail job that is running tractor tires out back, four-wheel-drive, and enough power to run a small city if need be, just to nail the throttle on a surface that has little to no predictability factored in. A Top Fueler is an awesome device, but track conditions don’t vary near as much as the soil that gets churned up and flattened out over and over in one event. It’s an eighth mile blast, followed up by a thousand feet of shutdown area, and getting these monsters slowed down just might be even sketchier than the actual run itself. And just when you think there is no limit to what can happen, in this clip you’ll see an air cleaner explode. All hail the unhinged!
