Are Wacky 1960’s Show Rods Making A Comeback? How About Billet? What Automotive Trends Are We Going To See Come Back To A Show Near You?

In the last year or so I’ve seen a couple of rides at shows that surprised me at first glance, and even more once I went up and talked to the owners. These cars were bubble top 1960s and 1970s style show rods and I assumed both were old cars that had been found and resurrected. But that was NOT the case. Both cars were brand new builds that had come together out of the minds of a couple dudes who did not know each other but who were inspired by the same cars they saw in old magazines and photos. These guys were way too young to have seen these cars in person at shows growing up. But boy they nailed it on their builds.

So when the Iron Trap crew made a video asking if the wacky and crazy 1960’s style show rods were going to make a comeback, my answer is… maybe. I doubt there will be some huge resurgence, where we will see cars like this taking over the show scene, but I think we’ll see a few here and there which I dig. I think these cars require so much work that they won’t become the norm, but rather the outlier that really grabs people’s attention and I dig that.

Check out the video and let us know what you think.

Video Description:

Matt and Mike sit down to talk about the current trends of Hot Rodding, and if any of the past trends will make a comeback. Do you think the wacky show rods or the Boyd billet era will make a comeback??
