The Fast and The Furious has often been more of a punchline than an accepted car movie franchise. And the first couple of movies certainly didn’t help that stereotype, focusing on hedonistic nightlife while creating a highly fictionalized and over-hyped version of what was perceived as the import tuner scene. But ever since the fourth film, Fast and Furious, the concentration of vehicles has spread out and the acting, once laughable, has improved greatly over the last few films. While there were concerns for the future of the franchise after the passing of Paul Walker last year, it appears that Universal Studios was able to make things work out, especially when Walker’s brothers, Cody and Caleb, stepped in to assist with scene filming.
Furious 7 picks up where Fast and Furious 6 left off and will feature new characters played by Jason Statham (Death Race, The Transporter), Michael Jai White (Spawn, The Dark Knight), MMA Fighter Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell, who was last seen behind the wheel in Death Proof. Just from the trailer you can see a good spread of cars, from Dom’s Charger (now returned to it’s black 1970 self) to a list of new rides, including a Lykan Hypersport supercar, a round-taillight ‘Cuda that appears to be Letty’s, and…well, just check the trailer out and see for yourself.
Not sure how I feel about this one. But the last one was definitely better than Fast Five, and it’s Paul Walker’s last movie, so I’ll give it a shot. Ya know, “Which F&F franchise vehicle is your favorite?” would be a great Bangshift Question Of The Day
Jumped the shark for sure. Stick a fork in this franchise.
