We are firm believers in testing all the available options on rental cars, new cars, etc. This of course means the rev limiter as well. And various manufacturers have very different rev limiters that behave in very different ways. Luckily, GM’s rev limiters are pretty standard. And very reliable. But is it more reliable than the connecting rods in this GM van? You’ll have to watch and see. Also note that this van is running even when you think it shouldn’t be.

I wonder if they were doing a crankshaft position sensor relearn?
Gee;according to all the Chevy gurus out there,Chevy engines never blow up,guess this proves them wrong!!!! ROY.
I wonder if this was during the “Cash for clunkers” program. I was working at a dealership that participated in that and yes there was some junk that needed to be blown up, but we also destroyd some very nice vehicles. We would drain the oil and pour in “liquid glass”. Fire them up and floor it until they locked up. None of them blew up as spectacularly as this engine did. Mostly they just moaned and died like sick cows. We started making bets on which would lat the longest. Small block chevies died pretty quick at about 3 minutes. The longest lasting? 300 ci Ford straight six lasted a little over 10 minutes.
Seems like it, with another car waiting for it’s turn and the big jar and funnel besides the car.
Personnaly I think it’s sad.
