A rally crash normally is cringe-worthy, but this just made my top-10 list. The car is a Citroën C2 and it is being piloted by Yoan Droumenq with co-driver Gabriel Durand reading off the notes at Rallye Ronde de La Durance. The second the C2 comes into the video frame, things quit going well for the team. The car crests a small hill and gets upset, and Droumenq does his best to try and gather the Citroën up, but his work is in vain as the car seems determined to hit a tree or pole just off of the road. That’s bad enough, but that isn’t the end of the ride. Instead of just striking the tree/pole, the C2 hits a dirt berm instead, front-flips, flies across the road while airborne and spinning, and smacks into a decent-sized tree that couldn’t be bothered to yield even a little. Droumenq and Durand were unharmed, but the Citroën is beyond done. Hit play below and take a listen to that impact noise…ouch.

Good thing the tree broke his fall
Like rally car pinball…
People underestimate trees.
