This Last-Lap Accident At Red Bull Ring Is One For The Books – And They Walked Away

When the only thing between you and the end of the race is one lap, desperation sets in. If you’re first, you will do everything you can to stay there. If you’re in second, you will do whatever it takes to be first. And if you are too focused on the other drivers instead of driving or the course, bad things can occur. This footage is from the European GT4 Series race at Red Bull Ring in Austria. Rosen Daskalov in the yellow Sin R1 GT4 was making a strong final push with Jörg Viebahn’s Aston Martin hot on his heels when the cars made contact in the final corner and went straight for the wall. The Sin bashed face-first into the wall and rolled, while the Aston Martin went airborne, spinning and flipping simultaneously before landing hard. Both drivers were hauled to the hospital to be checked out but walked away from the accident uninjured. Another score for the roll cage designers!
