Ferrari’s F40 is an automotive legend. At the risk of having a couple of men in suits show up at my house, I view the F40 as the Italian take on the formula that the Dodge Charger Daytona brought: pinched nose, tall wing, a killer of an engine (in this case, a highly-strung twin turbo 2.9L V8) and spartan accommodations. The F40 wasn’t meant to be a technological wonder, but a Rosso Corsa sledgehammer, and a very effective one at that. 200 mph? One might have done it, but Ferrari claimed 197, and testers claimed that they saw God just driving the car on the highway at 1991-legal speeds. Don’t ask us…we aren’t getting close to one anytime soon, though we will never turn down the chance if we, by some miracle, do get an opportunity!
Track weapon, cruise missile with tires, Enzo’s final farewell, a car collector’s wet dream…but a wintertime camping vehicle? Think about it: imagine taking a Ferrari F40, with snow chains on, a roof rack full of gear, a rack of rally lights and the inability to give a **** about opinions to Pebble Beach. That would be worth the price of admission, but we have the next best thing here: Takeshi Kimura, the owner of Car Guy, driving his F40 to a snowy camping spot in the mountains of Japan. It’s not that far-fetched: the F40 was an evolution of the 288GTO, which was meant for Group B rally racing. Check out the video below!

BANZAI ! Dude.
If he’d have got into that tent on the roof he’d have fallen through the carbon fiber like it was thin ice. Rich boys and their toys never impress me especially when most of the video is a fake. I’d have rather seen Kimura san gut himself with a nice sharp sword and leave his guts steaming gently in the snow…
