Opels that find the side of the road that goes nearly straight downward, Fiats that lose a wheel at the most inopportune time, Lancias that get buck-wild and become uncontrolled sliding machines, Škodas that have a better floor routine than most Olympic gymnasts…there’s catalogs upon catalogs of crash footage out there. Most of the time the car careens off into the wilds and that’s just that. But in certain areas, rallies are held in populated areas and simply by the laws of statistics, sooner or later someone is going to park a Subaru in the fencerow of somebody’s house. What happens next? Who foots the bill when a Mitsubishi slides through someone’s front porch, or when a Porsche takes out the shed in the backyard? It’s an honest question…who does foot the bill?
