Here’s what we do know about the Ford Focus RS: the psychotic all-wheel-drive rally hatch isn’t going to be available until about Spring. Everything else, from the power to the much-lauded Drift Mode, don’t mean squat until we can get our hands on the wheel of one and wring it out for ourselves. We’ve seen early shots (Goodwood, the introduction with Ken Block driving a prototype) and what we have seen has us drooling in anticipation, but now Ford has decided to ramp up the hype machine on their Subaru STI challenger by unveiling an eight part series called “Rebirth of an Icon” that showcases the development of the Focus RS. You will see mockups, pre-productions and prototypes as they are tested out. From the moment Block introduced the car to a press conference by power-sliding it into a warehouse, through weather testing, component testing and racetrack work, you will see the good and bad sides of what it took to not only bring a legendary car into a new generation, but to tune that next-generation car to fit a world market.
