“Bet you can’t do it.” Those five words have started more problems and have whipped up more competition than any others, we’d wager. Nobody likes to be told that they can’t or that they won’t. Most people will do whatever the challenge is just to shut the other guy up or to call a bluff. We aren’t saying that’s how rockbouncing and bouncer hillclimbs started out, but we’re willing to bet that a lot of the origin story sounds like a couple of guys and “bet you can’t do it” thrown in for good measure.
The Southern Rock Racing Series is in full swing and recently visited Wildcat Off-Road Park in East Bernstadt, Kentucky for the third round of the 2019 season. With the same hills being used as last year, the challenge becomes the clock: the hills shouldn’t have changed that much from last year due to natural reasons, so the obstacles, the stair-steps and the big rocks should be known. Now, it’s about speed…how fast can you get up that hill without taking the big roll back down? With just enough throttle to get things moving, and being careful not to find too much of the loud pedal, these racers will go all-out to put down the quickest pass up the hill…hopefully, before gravity and kinetic energy step in to put an end to that plan.
