The truth is that most of the time when someone from an ad agency sends us something and says it’s great we usually know they are full of crap. This was not one of those times! We laughed our asses off, out loud, watching these and you will be a better person for doing so as well. When the agency for NAPA Auto Parts sent me the email with links to these three commercials and said that they had done them specifically because of the increasing age of American’s fleet of cars, we were intrigued. It turns out the average American vehicle is now 11.5 years old which is a sure sign we are all broke, or spending our money on fun cars.
These commercials are for you people who, like us, drive something that hasn’t seen the warranty period in quite some time. And so you know, the cars in these videos are real, and really for sale online! The owners agreed to let NAPA use them in the NAPA Old Car Commercials.
Take a drink now, and make sure you swallow before watching. Your computer screen and keyboard will thank you.
The tiny beater is the perfect beater. Haul what ever and who cares what happens to it. Funny ads.
Kids don’t drive “beaters” anymore. They consider a “beater” as a new Hyundai Accent.
A student of mine once told me she couldn’t stay after for makeup work…”I have to go to work” …why I asked…” to pay for my car”…why do you need a car?..” so I can go to work”. You can’t make this up.
As always, reality is funnier that fiction!
Those are great!
My average car age is 30.33 years ! An 11 year old car is a baby to me.
My newest vehicle is a 2006. My oldest is from 1960. I have a couple in between. The new one has power, comfort, luxury and drives like a dream. The old one doesn’t have anything, power brakes, nope. Power steering, Nope. Seat belts, nope. Radio, nope. But there is something about driving an old car that isn’t replaceable.
I am currently trying to sell my newer daily (a 2004 GMC Canyon) to replace it with a 67-69 Ford truck.
Right? I replaced a 2002 durango with a 1984 K10 and could not be happier. 1971 Spitfire in the summer.
My current beater is a 2002 Silverado. Almost 230K miles and still kicks ass!
My wife and I just calculated our daily drivers and the spare (three rigs) average age at 36.3 years old.
My tiny beater / power commuter / dog car is a 2003 Neon. 188,000 miles.
No sense in fouling a nice car with dog hair.
I do enjoy the freedom of a car I don’t give a shit about!
Thanks Chad! these made my morning. my current DD is a 2002 King Ranch, working on a 69 Ranger. why own it if you can”t use it?
2001 Silverado 286,000 miles 5.3 2WD
My Giant Beater/Power Commuter is a ’95 Impala SS sedan. 248k and the engine has never been apart. If you’ve gotta have a beater at least make sure it gets some “cool points”.
