We’ve participated in a 24 Hours of Lemons race and can tell you that it is just as much theatrics as racing, and people certainly take it to the extreme. This video shows just how extreme as the team turned one 3 series BMW into a replica of Homer Simpson’s Homer Car. If you are a Simpson’s fan you know that this car not only was iconic in one particular episode, but also is included in several Simpson’s video games as well. It’s so correct that, Simpson’s Creator, Matt Groening fell in love with it. Luckily he liked it enough to keep Fox from kicking the team’s ass for using a copyrighted image so they could keep racing it. We have to say, we aren’t much for the themed race car thing at Lemons. With that said, we’d race there again, but without all the fanfare. Clearly we are in the minority because there are some pretty creative folks out there designing all kinds of stuff. The Homer team takes the cake though for coming up with a car that is true to the tv show, including some hard to pull off features, and is still very competitive as a race car. This little sucker is quick and, given the handling prowess of the 3 series BMW, it’s no wonder it has been a successful ride.

The best part of the car is the “Homer Horn” …. “out of my way jerk ass ” is great! I’d wear it out in a day hear in NJ.
Oh come on Chad, the “themed race cars” showcase some of the most creative ideas ever. Check out the upsidedown Camaro, or Honda “Accordion”. These LeMons folks know how to make racing FUN.
Awesome! I think the theme’d cars are great! Given the choice to race a car or race a comically themed car, I will pick comically themed every time.
