Hand-Controlled Hellraiser: This Holden Burnout Machine Is Perfectly Handi-Capable!

Hand-Controlled Hellraiser: This Holden Burnout Machine Is Perfectly Handi-Capable!

One of the most inspirational things I’ve ever seen involved a man with a handicap. I went to college with him, another vet on the grounds. The dude had lost his leg…unfortunately, there are quite a few veterans who are missing limbs that are about my age. It’s a sad reality of what goes on over there. But his outlook is what got me…rather, it was the license plate on his neon-orange Ford Focus. It was a veteran-handicap plate, personalized: GIMPIN. Unless he took his prosthetic off and started using it like a golf club (that might have happened a time or two) or he was wearing shorts and you saw it, you didn’t really notice that anything was wrong. And he didn’t act like anything was wrong. Sure, one leg is more wooden than your prom date was, but that’s the only difference. His outlook was positive, his humor razor-sharp, and his goals were in no danger of being lost as a result.

Jason Rapoff is the wheelman behind the “KING VH” Commodore here, and he’s been paralyzed from the waist down ever since a dirt bike accident. No leg functionality is a hinderance, but it’s not the end of the world with a car. You still have two good hands, right? One on the wheel (be honest, 95% of the time you drive one-handed) and one on a lever/grip unit that functions as the pedals, and you’re good to go! You might not be into the whole burnout scene but when it comes to a guy who isn’t letting the hand that fate dealt him direct what he does in life, you stand up and appreciate what’s going on. Especially when blower whine is involved!
