Ford Europe had a field day in Lord March’s driveway at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Among other highlights, including an RS200 and Ken Block’s “Hoonicorn” Mustang whipping donuts halfway up the course, the high point had to be, without a doubt, ex-Top Gear Stig Ben Collins’ run up the hill in a new Shelby GT350R. This is the evil and stripped down version of the Shelby that Ford makes in-house, and we’ve been in bona-fide lust over the noise this thing makes since we first heard teasers of it last year. While Europe isn’t getting the GT350 or GT350R, Ford felt that showing off the snarling Mustang would win over the crowd anyways. Making sure that the run was entertaining (since Block was right behind the Mustang, ready to take the new Focus RS up the hill) was Collins. From the second they cut him loose, he went for broke. We don’t know for sure if that launch was really that hairy or just for show, but his reaction to the camera at the end tells us all we need to know…the Stig is impressed. Very impressed. Make sure you have the volume up for this one!
That sounds killer!!!
Had to adjust my pants after that, they got tight suddenly. That thing sounds so gnarly.
