If Only It Took This Long: A Time-Lapse Build Of Hoonigan’s 1JZ Nissan

If Only It Took This Long: A Time-Lapse Build Of Hoonigan’s 1JZ Nissan

You lied to yourself when you bought your project car, didn’t you? It would be done in a year. It would be done before Spring. It’ll make it to Power Tour. It’ll make it to Rocky Mountain Race Week. Yeah, we can absolutely feed ourselves with fresh cattle fertilizer by the bucketful when we are looking at the tattered remains of a dream car that is begging to be brought back to life. It won’t be that easy…you know this, but you keep telling yourself that you’re a miracle worker, that you’re an awesome wrench, and that you’re just psyching yourself out.

Hey, by the way, how is your project car coming along?

We laugh about it, but every well-done car starts out as a big dream. It takes the skill of an old hand, the patience of a Buddhist monk, and the drive of someone possessed in order to get a car from “start” to “finished”. Months and years are the usual timescale, regardless of what those television show builds would have you believe. The work isn’t for the weak and if you think everything will just bolt together in one shot, oh, do we have news for you, sunshine. Even in the best of circumstances, that shit doesn’t happen. But it’s nice to wish it to come true, so here’s the closest thing to fast and easy with a car build. Vin from Hoonigan took this Nissan 240SX from dusty garbage to his vision of done over the course of a year. Keep in mind, the starting point just needed a bath in the worst way possible, really. But a lot went into making this Nissan legit, more than the body kit and the wheels, and in this ten-minute time-lapse build, you’ll get the rundown on how it all came together. Check this out!
