Of all of the motorsports bucket list items we need to check off before we check out, the Australian burnout contest has to be one of the top three. (Hey, that’s a hard list to agree on!) The concept is simple: take everything fun about doing a brake stand in Grandpa’s old Buick when you were a teenager, ratchet it up a few dozen notches, and perform in front of a wild crowd that cheers you on as you proceed to do every possible thing your irresponsible teenage side ever dreamed of doing. So long as your car is capable of hazing off the tread, anyone is welcome to try. We’ve seen pretty much everything there is out there in a burnout pit at some point in time: American muscle cars, converted (and even non-converted) Japanese performance rides, and of course every form of Australian performance car made, most complete with one big-ass blower sticking out of the engine bay. Sooner or later we will have to see it in person (and we have to give it a shot in something other than a rental car), but for now, enjoy this compilation of the latest and greatest, from the Performance Car Mania show at Winton Raceway in Victoria, Australia:
