Aside from the deliciously violent noises a good old V8 makes, the exhaust song that I could listen to over and over again comes from the Lexus LF-A. I first heard this car at the 2010 SEMA show, and the noise is as good as every magazine, blogger, YouTuber, and reviewer has made it out to be. If it can’t sound like a V8, then a high-pitched melodic shriek like this is certainly the way to go. Someone from Lexus kept making hot laps through the tunnel that splits the Las Vegas Convention Center, letting the 4.8L 72-degree V-10 sing the song of it’s people to anyone and everyone within earshot. Here’s hoping that there were no champagne glasses nearby…the LFA’s party trick was featured in a commercial. In fact, the car as a whole is pretty awesome, aside from the price tag that will make even a well-heeled car shopper feel like they just got sucker-punched in the beanbag. I may never be able to afford a Lexus LF-A, but there is no charge for listening to one zing that video-game tachometer all the way into the red and back repeatedly. If a V8’s roar is a battle cry, then this is the siren’s song, the one heard just before the sailor’s ship bashes itself onto the rocks. Crank the volume!
I have to admit the Lexus LFA engine sound is just pure joyful noise!
