After waxing poetic on the idea of late-model rides having blowers through the hood, I had to go back and check up on one of my all-time favorites, “Mad Matt” Leischer’s 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT-8 known as “A-Bom” (Abomination). In a normal modern Mopar show, you’ll see lots of brightly colored cars and in Arizona, you’ll see not only brightly colored cars, but spotless, highly detailed cars. Matt’s Chrysler is none of those things. What started out as a photo manipulation has led to the build you see here. Yes, that blower is functional. Yes, it works, and yes, that car is driven anywhere, any day, with absolutely zero f**ks given about whether or not it’s dirty. Leischer does a lot of the engineering and fabrication himself, and currently he’s trying to figure out how to shove more rear tire underneath the back end. This means that he built a rolling stand for the rear suspension subframe that will allow him to work on it without accidentally doing yoga moves underneath the car. It’s also gotten loud and louder, thanks to exhaust cutouts that were installed from Badlanz Performance Exhaust. Whereas our own Project Angry Grandpa still looks and for the most part acts like the car you see outside Denny’s early on Sunday mornings, the A-Bom is a literal middle finger to the whole concept. The only politically correct thing about this car is that it passes it’s emissions checks with flying colors. And we absolutely love the hell out of this thing, especially when that blower is singing away.
That thing is way cool! Just lose the flat black paint and put something with color on it! I love the ideas that people come up with. Great job!
Flat grey would be nice. Love the primitive look. Do it!
