You know those awesome, close-up fly-by racing shots that make television shows like TopGear and racing footage look amazing? You like seeing a car bearing down on you on video just before it rips right past the camera, hauling all sorts of ass? Like seeing the dust and grass getting kicked up as a driver is putting in their 110% behind the wheel? Of course we do…it’s the best way to translate the speed and energy through the screen! If you can’t be there to feel the rush of the wind as the car tears past you, you have to admit that these types of angles provide a nice consolation prize. But there is a downside to these shots: no sanctioning body is going to be stupid enough to let a camera operator, no matter how ballsy, stand right in the inside of the apex of a corner with the camera at wheel height to get the perfect shot. It’s too risky of a move, and that’s best said before any insurance representative sees what’s going on. YouTube channel HillClimbFans has a solution to this: the “Bitch Cam”, their trusty and old Sony camcorder. Placed on a tripod and placed just outside of imminent danger, the Bitch Cam has risked lens and case to get some amazing footage of cars ripping past…check this one out!

I’ve always been a huge fan of Bergrennen (European hill climbing) but I have never realised how fast these cars can climb those hills until now. Relentless acceleration up ever-steepening hills, insane blow-off valve sounds and exhaust notes like some hellish symphony.
