Morning Symphony: Thrashing Jeeps At Dennis Anderson’s Muddy Motorsports Park

A Tough Truck race might be viewed as an alternate form of a demolition derby race, and to be fair, you aren’t far off in that guess. But we tend to see the more positive aspect of the race: if you ever wanted to know just how durable a vehicle can truly be, then look no further. From suspension components to items in the engine bay that you never gave a thought to before. a Tough Truck course will test the hell out of them. This is the kind of abuse that engineers won’t even bother to go near, mainly because sooner or later, something will break, and it will break hard. Axles will snap, shocks will be pile-driven to their limits, and as for the engines…well, the drivers at this event at Dennis Anderson’s Muddy Motorsports Park think of that as a redline suggestion. You’ve never heard Jeep straight-sixes get beat on like these guys do, and the 5.2L Grand Cherokees bark just as hard. Bob Lutz might have ushered in the ZJ Grand Cherokee with the sound of breaking glass, but we doubt even he knew what those AMC-designed, Chrysler built marvels would actually tolerate. These things can fly!
