The now defunct, LACR aka LA Country Raceway in Palmdale, was one of the icon dragstrips of Southern California back in the day. I got to run there twice, and have the distinction of running the last car to blowup at LACR and will cherish track owner Bernie Longjohn’s excitement when it all went down. But back in the ’80s, LACR was one of the hottest tracks, especially when the Fuel Altereds came out to play. This video is awesome because it not only has some great racing footage and interviews, but also some kick ass side by side fire burnouts. Whoever came up with the idea of lighting gasoline on fire and then doing a burnout through it was pure genius and genuinely crazy. We love that combo!
Check out this cool video by clicking play below. We also want to thank Jim Barrett from J & A Racing, home of the Rocketeer Nostalgia Funny Car, for sending us the link to this one. It’s a great look back.
Its LA County Raceway, not LA Country Raceway..
Some serious thirteen letter butt puckering moments in there.
sure hope they make a come back best ride ever
