If you are a regular BANGshifter then you know that we are really big fans of the Dakar Rally around here, because I’ve been watching it since the late 1990’s when television coverage was amazing. And while Schlesser buggies and factory teams of cars, SUVs, and even UTVs are pretty awesome, I think there is a special appreciation for big trucks like the one in the video below. These trucks make more than 1,000 horsepower thanks to their FPT engine combos and their shear size and suspension travel make them do things that nobody every believed they could do. Plus, most of them have three people inside, with the middle seat navigator sitting slightly higher and rearward of the traditional driver and passenger locations. It’s nuts and we love them.
Watch the video below of the winning Ales Loprais driven machine doing testing for the 2026 Dakar Rally to see just how this thing handles, because it is kind of nuts that something this big can be this smooth.
