Have you never heard to the XJ-R Jeep Cherokee Race Truck? That’s okay, we forgive you. Plus, think of this as just a preview of more to come. In fact, as I write this Brian and Nutting are out shooting this Turbo Straight six beast for a full feature here on the site. It’s not pretty, in fact it has a face only a mother could love, but considering that it was built for the Grassroots Motorsports $2012 Challenge, we’d say it’s pretty bitchin. If you aren’t familiar, the Grassroots $201x Challenge is a competition where cars must be built for a dollar about equal to the current calendar year. That means this year it’s $2013.
The customization that goes on in this event, and the creativity and fabrication, can be pretty spectacular. Any purchased items count in the total, so it’s all about making stuff and then spending your money wisely. This Cherokee is one hell of a competitor and has run in the 12’s in the quarter, can hang a tire on the autocross, and is pretty damn reliable as well.
Click play to watch the video for your sneak peek at more to come. And watch it in HD on full screen and you’ll see it hang the right front tire in a corner or two.
