Yesterday we got an interesting email from a BangShifter asking about this video of Grandpa Munster driving Drag-u-la. The video shows Grandpa trying to win back the Munster Koach after Herman lost it in a drag race. We think it’s pretty fitting that their fix for losing the pink to one car in a drag race, is to build another one and race it for pinks as well. We approve.
Anyway, the question that was asked about this video was “What strip was this filmed at?” And I have to admit I did have to do some research to find out. But do any of you know? Off the top of your head? Without research? Let us know what track you think, or KNOW, it is.
CLick play to watch.
Lions
The only Dragster in America that can play ‘Oh Promise Me’ in second gear…..
It’s Mockingbird Heights Drag Strip.
IDK what track that is but that is some funny sht!!!!
Transylvania Drag n’Steins
that’s definitely Lion dragstrip
For the record, I did not think that the scene was filmed at Lions. I thought that Lions had it’s big grandstands by 1965.
It appears that I was mistaken. Here is an excerpt from the Wikipedia Lions drag strip page.
“Trivia
The television series The Munsters filmed most of the episode “Hot Rod Herman”, (aired on May 27, 1965) at Lions Drag Strip.”
definitely Lions. I was fortunate to practically live there until I went in the USAF in 1966. Wed. night brackets and time trials, Sat. Night big show and serious brackets, and Sunday serious brackets again
I remember the episode . Herman said he had to have the box back at the parlor.
