Is it spring yet? No…crap. At least time is on the march, because right now I’m missing the smell of PJ1 and race fuel. The strip is calling our name, and while Lohnes will be out for the season openers, the sign that racing season has started near BangShift Mid-West is when the diesel guys come out to play at Beech Bend. I might have a bit of a love/hate relationship with diesel events on the whole, but I can’t deny that on the strip, there is something just freaking awesome about watching a truck come off the line on boost with all four wheels doing their best to dig through the asphalt while propelling a whole lot of truck forward. It’s not about who can smoke out the entire strip, either…we’ve seen some serious movers that barely put out any smoke whatsoever. From street trucks that are hiding a lot of secrets to the tube-frame psychotic builds that can shock even the most jaded V8 fan, diesel trucks can hold their own….and usually drag along something else behind them as well.
