If you attend any car show, drag race, autocross, or car event of any kind, you’ll find father’s, sons, grandfathers, mothers, daughters, granddaughters and more hanging out, driving, or crewing for each other. That’s what this hobby, sport, or whatever you want to call it is all about. People get together, share their love of all things motorized, and meet new friends and bring them into the family. What’s always special about that are the stories of guys and gals who have built cars together for the family to race, and on occasion even find dad’s old car that was sold years ago to bring it back to life. Such is the story of this father and son duo.
When Ryan Hanlon sent me the link to these videos, and explained what he and his dad Jim were doing, it made me think of my dad and I immediately. And it will make you wax nostalgic as well. Jimmy Wilderman, a buddy of their’s, did an awesome job filming and editing this. You’ll enjoy it. And stay tuned for part 2 on Wednesday, and Part 3 on Friday.
We loved all three.

Our favorite quote of Part 1? When Ryan says “We’re pulling a Chevy out with a Honda…that’s not, that’s not right.”

Its what every gearhead father wants to do with his sons (and/or daughters) one day. Excellent. Thanks for brining it.
That was really fuckin cool
My son dug my old drag sled out a couple years ago and went all through the motor. This summer, he won Sportsman class and I won Super Pro on the same day. It was a lot of fun.

Funny but very sad that these guys felt the need to drive a Honda and not a Chev. I bought my first brand new car since ’95 and wouldn’t even go into the Chev. dealer. SAD
