Ever Wonder What It Is Like Going 314 mph In A Door Car On The Salt At Bonneville? Check This Out!

We’re adding more video to this already cool post! You want to watch this. It’s nuts, but it is the norm for Bonneville. People always ask what it is like, and even at slower speeds, this is often what it’s like. Or perhaps more on the edge even. Watch.

If you are a fan of land speed racing then it makes sense that you are here on BANGshift reading this as we post tons of photos from Bonneville Speed Week each and every year. I’ve raced at Bonneville, have plans for another race car that will run on the salt, and know what it is to have salt fever. I’ve been 238 mph on the salt, which is hauling ass. But that is NOTHING compared to the 314 miles per hour that this 1988 Pontiac Trans Am went on the salt during Speed Week 2024 with Jeffrey Ferguson behind the wheel.

When Jeffrey saw me share another Bonneville video around Speed Week, he made sure to share his on board video from the Trans Am, and boy am I glad he did. This thing was a lot straighter than many at slower speeds during this year’s Speed Week, but that doesn’t mean it was without some excitement. It is awesome listening to him driving this thing as you can hear him on and off the throttle trying to get it to stay hooked up.

But after that video, Jeffery decided to make another one, with more info and detail, and that really gives you some insight into what he’s doing inside the car, what it feels like, and more. Check it out, this is good.

Watch, listen, and let us know what you think. Would you strap into this thing and take it for a run on the salt?
