It’s always curious to see what the reaction is from foreign publications when it comes to our cars. There’s the usual litany of jokes (can’t corner, subpar materials, crude) but lately, a lot of our cars are shutting up some of the bigger mouths, especially from across the pond. Car Magazine is a well-respected rag over in the U.K., and is analogous to Automobile or Road and Track here. And they thought up a beauty of a test for their week in the United States: They decided to have a four-way test around roads in California and Nevada in an “us vs. them” style that on the surface looks pretty damn slanted: The Lamborghini Huracan, the replacement for the Gallardo takes top bill for the supercar, and the BMW i8, a semi-sports car hybrid. Yeah, guys, that’s totally fair. Especially when Team America is represented by a Mustang GT and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Things don’t look completely promising here, but they wring them all out. How did we do, and were their judgements fair? Click play below and see for yourself…and remember, this is a paid vacation for these guys.
BUT DID THEY USE THE RED KEY????
All the time.
Except when their girlfriends were moving the car.
And the parking valets.
Wow! A British mag not ripping into our cars? How refreshing.
Yeah!
We have magazines such as Street Machine and Custom Car – wer’e not all hatchback driving pansies or white van moron-mongers!
